Academies at SGHS

Gwinnett County Public Schools transitioned to college and career academies in the 2014-15 school year to promote on-time graduation and student engagement. This approach allows students to make connections between what they are learning in the classroom and how they can apply their learning to the real world. South Gwinnett students are gaining knowledge and skills that ensure they are equipped for future success. The careers associated with college and career pathways are considered high skill, high wage, or high need, based on Georgia’s labor forecast for 2025.

South Gwinnett High School is home to over 2500 students.  Every day our students are in an environment of professionals who care about their education.  We take pride in the education we provide, and we are excited about building partnerships with our community as we develop a strong foundation for a world-class school. 

This partnership and support are critical due to the unique model at South Gwinnett. South Gwinnett is an Academy School.  Students are given the opportunity to select an area of concentration.  This can include Health and Human Services, Public Service, Law, Computer Science, Cybersecurity and more.   This approach allows students to make connections between what they are learning in the classroom and how they can apply their learning to the real world.  At South Gwinnett students are gaining knowledge and skills that ensure they are equipped for future success in, high skill, high wage, or high demand industries.
